Hi everyone! Yup, I’m back.
About mid-February my life got really busy all of a sudden. I lost motivation to write posts and to keep up with my blog. But I’ve honestly missed it so much and now I’m super excited to start again. So to announce my return, this post is going to be a big life update.
First of all, I was accepted to the University of Florida! It’s crazy to think that my four years in high school are almost over. I can’t wait to branch out, expand my knowledge and start my life as an independent. Don’t get me wrong, I’m also nervous to leave my home and family, and I know meeting new people can be hard, but I’m keeping a positive outlook.
In other news, my sister’s basketball team made it to the State Finals this year for the second time in a row. My family and I traveled up to Lakeland, Florida, to watch them compete for the title. Unfortunately, they ended up losing to an undefeated team and placed second in the state in their division. I’m so happy for them and I can’t wait for my sister to take over the role as captain and carry the team to States again next year.
Also, I got a job. At the end of February I became a hostess at a local restaurant. I wanted to earn a little extra money before I head off to college. I babysit once in a while, but it just doesn’t provide me with enough money to pay for gas and car insurance, and still have some cash to go out with friends. This new job has been the main reason I took a break from blogging.
Right before Spring Break I had the opportunity to volunteer as a show-girl for a silent auction. My parents are on the Board of Directors of the organization called Catholic Charities, which works to provide food for underprivileged kids in our county. Each year they have a big event in March called the Emerald Ball, and it is the main fundraiser for this organization. My sister and I were asked to help with the silent auction during the event, which meant we were to stand for three hours trying to persuade the guests to bid on various jewelry, gift certificates, weekend getaways and more. In the end it was totally worth it because we were awarded delicious cookies at the end of the night for helping out.
So yeah, I’ve been a bit busy, but now I’m ready to get back into blogging! I hope you all enjoyed this little update and I look forward to posting again soon.
